How to do the Splits | Whitney's Kitchen Gymnastics | Oversplits Edition

Whitney’s Kitchen Gymnastics is Whitney’s new series presented every Wednesday (the only day she is not in the gym). In this episode, Whitney does a tutorial for performing the splits. This how to video shows the stretches and form needed to complete this classic feat of flexibility. Whitney uses standard kitchen equipment to complete her oversplits stretches. The “Double Pot Oversplits” is definitely an advanced maneuver…if you’re going to try this at home…be very careful! Strength, flexibility, and determination make this possible. Be sure to see what’s up next Wednesday. From Wikipedia: A split (commonly referred to as splits or the splits) is a physical position in which the legs are in line with each other and extended in opposite directions. Splits are commonly performed in various athletic activities, including dance, figure skating, gymnastics, martial arts, contortionism, synchronized swimming, cheerleading and yoga. A person who has assumed a split position is said to be "in a split"[1] or "doing the splits". When executing a split, the lines defined by the inner thighs of the legs form an angle of approximately 180 degrees. This large angle significantly stretches, and thus demonstrates excellent flexibility of, the hamstring andiliopsoas muscles. Consequently, splits are often used as a stretching exercise to warm up and enhance the flexibility of leg muscles.Check out the kids new series – The Adventures of Gravity Gal and Quantum Qid! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1v-X...
